An Area Rug Takes the Worst of the Traffic
Rugs end up exactly where the dirt is. Inside the front door, under the dining table, in front of the sink. They catch what would otherwise land on your floor, which is the job, and it means they hold far more grit than they look like they do.
Pick a corner up and look at the floor underneath. Whatever is down there came out of the rug, and there is more still in it.
How We Clean Area Rugs
1. We identify the rug first. Wool, cotton, silk blends, and synthetics all take moisture differently, and a dye that is going to run needs to be found before the cleaning starts, not during it.
2. Dry soil comes out first. Most of what is in a rug is dry grit. Removing that before any moisture goes in is what stops it turning into mud in the foundation of the pile.
3. Low-moisture cleaning, then a controlled dry. Hot Carbonating Extraction uses about 80% less water than steam cleaning. Less water in a rug means less risk to the backing and the fringe, and no dirt-attracting residue left behind.
What Sets Brooke’s Apart in Leavenworth
Brooke’s Chem-Dry has been in Leavenworth since April 1998, and we are the only Chem-Dry franchise in Leavenworth County. Rugs are the item people are most nervous about handing over, usually because the rug came from somewhere that mattered or cost more than the couch.
So we tell you what we are going to do before we do it, and if a rug is one we would rather not risk, we say so. That is a better outcome for both of us than a ruined heirloom.

Questions from Leavenworth Homeowners
Do you clean wool rugs?
Yes. Wool needs a lower-moisture approach than a synthetic, which is what Hot Carbonating Extraction gives us. We identify the fiber before we start.
Will the colors run?
We test for dye stability before any cleaning solution goes on the rug. If a rug is high-risk we will tell you rather than find out halfway through.
Do you clean the rug at my house or take it away?
It depends on the rug. Call and describe it, and we will tell you which one yours needs and what that changes about the price.
Can you get pet accidents out of an area rug?
Often, yes. Urine that has gone through into the backing is a different job, and that is our P.U.R.T.® treatment rather than a standard clean.
