PCS timelines compress. Orders shift, the packers come earlier than expected, and the inspection lands on a date nobody chose. Here’s how much lead time actually helps, and what we can do when there isn’t any.
The Honest Answer
Same day or next day is usually possible. We schedule around move-out dates year round and it’s a normal part of the work, particularly through the summer.
Two or three days is comfortable. It gives you a slot at a sensible hour rather than whatever’s left.
A week is ideal if there’s pet odor involved, because that’s the one thing you might want a second look at.
So the real answer is that carpet cleaning is rarely the bottleneck. Don’t let a tight date stop you calling.
Summer Is the Constraint
PCS season is May through August, and everyone in Leavenworth, Lansing and on post is moving in the same eight weeks. Those are the months where next-day gets harder, not because the work takes longer but because everyone needs the same three days.
If you know your dates in June, call in May. If you find out in June for a June move, call anyway. We keep room for short-notice move-outs because we know what this cycle looks like.
What Actually Sets the Timing
Two things, and neither is our schedule.
The house has to be empty. Carpet cleaned around furniture leaves untouched squares where the furniture stood, and once it’s gone the contrast is obvious. Clean after the truck loads.
It has to be dry for the walkthrough. Our process dries in 1 to 2 hours, so a morning clean is fine for an afternoon inspection. That’s what makes a tight turnaround workable at all.
Between those two, the window you’re really working with is the gap between the truck leaving and the inspector arriving. Tell us both times and we’ll fit inside them.
If You Only Have Hours
Call and say so. We’ll tell you honestly whether we can make it, rather than booking you and hoping.
If we genuinely can’t, we’d rather say that while you still have time to call someone else than take the slot and leave you stuck.
What to Have Ready When You Call
- Inspection date and time
- When the house will be empty
- Number of rooms or square footage
- Whether pets lived there
- Any spots you already know about
Five things, one phone call, and we can tell you immediately whether your timeline works.
